ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Hafiz and Qari Syed Lutfullah Hussaini was born in 1960 in Hyderabad Deccan, India, into a respected and scholarly family. Demonstrating exceptional intelligence, he memorised the Holy Quran at a very young age, which laid the foundation for his lifelong dedication to Islamic sciences. He obtained a Master’s degree in the Arabic language from the prestigious Osmania University in Hyderabad. Thereafter, he was honoured by the Government of India with recognition as a research scholar in Arabic. For more than forty years, he has been actively serving in the fields of Arabic language and Qur’anic education.

His specialisation lies in the Quran and Quranic sciences, including Tajweed and the recitation (qirā’ah) of Imām ʿAsim through the narrations of Hafs and Shuʿbah. Driven by his deep love for the Holy Quran and his strong command of the Arabic language, he has taught proper and eloquent Qur’anic recitation to countless students. Thousands of his students are spread across different parts of the world, and hundreds have had the honour of completing full memorisation of the Quran, including engineers, doctors, lawyers, businessmen, and teachers. In recognition of his services, he has been awarded the “Best Teacher” award, as well as the “Pride of Deccan” award by the organisation Hyderabad Deccan Connections (HDC), Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

Hafiz and Qari Syed Lutfullah Hussaini has devoted his life fostering correct Quranic recitation (qirā’ah) and accurate pronunciation. This work, Maarif-ut-Tajweed, reflects his efforts to preserve the rules of correct recitation of the Holy Quran and to convey them to learners, enthusiasts, and those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of the recitation of the Holy Quran.
